How Biodiversity is preserved

Over half of EcoFarm total land is set aside as natural conservation areas.  Conservation areas are protected from bushfire as if they were farmland and designated as ‘limited-go’ areas.

In these limited-go areas, native fauna and flora is left undisturbed and human intervention is limited to controlling external invasive species that disturb the native ecosystem.

A natural balance of trees and grassland is left to develop, which is highly effective in capturing carbon and storing it in the soil.

In the cultivated areas, EcoFarm steadily builds vibrant, healthy soils through green manuring and the return of all agricultural and industrial by-products to the land via composting.

In combination, the limited-go and cultivated areas maximize carbon sequestration, making EcoFarm’s carbon footprint negative.
